First Fridays

First Friday art shows on South First street of Downtown San Jose has been something that I look forward to every month. The art scene here has been growing quite progressively over the years and it is great to see several galleries holding exhibitions on the same night. This time around, I have a couple pieces showing over at Uproar in South First Billards, so we stopped by there first for the opening night party then worked our way down to Works Gallery and then finally visited Anno Domini for the Bloodwork book exhibition. For the San Jose natives, go check out the Bloodwork exhibition for Orly Locquiao’s (Cukui) pieces featured in the show. The galleries were all different in style, from dim light settings to white walls to professionally curated space. Next time you got a chance, go check out the San Jose art scene and support your local artists.Mike Borja doing some live art while repping the House of Commons.

My favorite piece from South First Billards, Artist is Machuca.Works GalleryBloodwork exhibition at A.D

New Office

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been going through some minor changes and working hard on future projects. With Millare moving out, we decided to move into a new office with Entourage Studios and the place is absolutely amazing. We are still in the process of setting things up in there, so here is a little sneak peak.

"Cut-It-Out" -Joey Gladstone

It gives me great pleasure to announce this new update… We found a seamstress! Now we play the waiting game. In a few weeks we will be expecting our very first cut and sew sample. From there will come our modifications and critique on the whole aesthetics of the piece. I for one just can’t wait. So, today I went out and studied each garment in my entire closet knit picking at the stitches and comprising all the positive things I could gather. This cut and sew project will be a sure shot in showcasing our brands direction and future endeavors. Other news, we had a dinner meeting over at the coop on technology drive yesterday. Food was great as usual (thanks RJ).There we discussed a few options for a new office location. We’ll keep you all posted on the status of that. More work to be done and even more designs to be finalized! Later.

Halloway's Eve

It’s not just any Friday..it’s Halloween eve. So, i guess that means costumes and…well, you know what it means… We did have a meeting and came to some great conclusions. We sure are moving forward and keeping this upcoming season very sophisticated. I wish i could leak a few things, but I’d rather keep everyone on their toes. Expect the unexpected. I just want to wish everyone a SAFE and RESPONSIBLE Halloway’s Eve and yeah…that’s about it. Till next time. TTYL.

SHHH!!! Be very, very quite. We’re hunting Fabric

Yesterday Millare, Dom, and I took a trip out to the city to do some fabric shopping. I must say it was one of the most super eye opening experiences I’ve ever experienced. Really though… taking a step back and reflecting on what we’d accomplished yesterday made me proud. There was a plethora of different materials and prints available. Now, we’re closer to getting this project off of paper and into production. On a side note, picking out buttons isn’t as easy as you’d think. Aside from that, the stairs leading to the other floors were no joke either. Couple of hours later of rummaging through fabric and after walking up and down 4 floors, we’d knew we had found just the right “stuff” we were looking for. After leaving the fabric shop, we headed over to a wing spot to grab some dinner. To quote Millare, “It’s so good that you’ll be craving it once you get back to San Jose.” (message us to get the name of the restaurant) And that concludes the update for now. TTYL.

Working Through the Rain

Today it really was raining cats and dogs, but it didn’t stop us from “DOING WORK.” First, we stopped over at a fabric shop and kept our eyes open for that future piece. Our Vietnamese wasn’t up to par and amidst all the confusion, we left empty handed. All in all it was a good adventure in the land of textiles. From there it was back to Pizza Cali. Dom and his mighty pen skills got to it and sketched up a quick template to reference all the cuts and stitching we’d like to have on a button up. This day has more to offer. BACK TO THE OFFICE WE GO!
